WELCOME!!! Thank you for viewing!
Since I started posting blog posts on my myspace and was getting absolutely no responses, I decided to make a wedding blog. Really just for myself to get out all the random frustrations that a wedding may bring.
Basics:
We started talking in March 2005.
We went on our first date in April and finally made it official on July 14, 2005.
For my birthday in February 2006, he gave me my promise ring.
By the summer he informed me that the ring from my birthday was my promise ring lol.
From August 2007 to July 2008 we were long distance, as I started my first year of law school in New Orleans and he finished law school in Baton Rouge. Even though it was only 1 hour apart, it was terrible since we lived across the street from each other the year before.
In December 2007, we went diamond shopping. He told me he had gone to the jewelers, but was considering getting me an antiqued band. I was shocked since I do not like antique bands, so I decided to go with him to the jeweler. We looked at diamonds and the exact one was his choice. He later decided to get me a palladium setting, I left this up to him.
I knew he had ordered my ring, but in all honesty was very surprised by the proposal.
The ring was delivered to his condo in Baton Rouge on my birthday in February 2008. The next sunday he proposed at the church where my granny, mom and sister all were married. I never expected my not religious boyfriend to propose in a church, it was the perfect way to surprise me. After a deacon gave us a blessing.
I put a deposit on my dress a week or two later. I had a deer in the headlights look because I hadn't yet put a deposit on the church or reception hall and yet I was buying a dress. However, it was a trunk sale and I got a dress that was more than I ever expected to get for less than I ever expected to pay, much less.
My fiance really wanted a June wedding. The church we decided on (not the church where the proposal took place) only had one Saturday night in June left - June 13. I didn't really like this date and by the time I decided I could deal with it and put a deposit on the church, the reception hall was booked. Well the reception hall was the only place I found in budget that I liked. So after much tears, we switched the date. Fi still brings up how we could be married a month earlier if I had gotten the stuff in on time. But in the end, I got the places I wanted and a date I like better. But I still feel bad that fi doesn't get a June Wedding.
We booked the reception hall two weekends after the fiasco.
Then I booked the photographer and videographer because I was so worried about loosing my date again.
By the time I went to my first bridal show, all these things were booked. So sadly the bridal show wasn't as informative and awesome as it could have been had I just started planning.
I also ordered the Bridesmaid cards I had my heart set on and sent them out to the girls. They all liked them and the personal notes I wrote inside. My bridesmaids were pretty much predetermined since 5 are family members - my sister, fi's two sisters, and my two cousins. Then we have my friend from college who I felt like we should always have been friends.
Fi also asked his groomsmen, all friends. And most of them are out of town.
I asked my brother-in-law and my cousin-in-law to be ushers. Fi still hasn't picked out his two ushers.
My mom ordered my crinoline off of ebay and it came in very quickly. I went shopping with my sister and found a nice bra to go under my dress.
After going to many places both physically and online, I ordered shoes I found at a bridal shop from that shop. I'm quite satisfied and don't mind if I ever get to wear them again simply because after such long searching I'm glad to have found the perfect shoe.
After getting all these, I got my hollow to hem measurement in June and ordered my dress. It should be here in November.
My sister/moh tried on the sample bridesmaid dress at the same time as my hollow to hem and really liked it even though it was a few sizes too small. So hopefully they will be flattering on all the girls.
That is all I'll tell you about now. I'll give you more about previous planning another day.
