The Things She Carried

For my senior or junior year in high school, I had to read a book called The Things They Carried. I was reminded of this book last week when I got a call from FMIL. She told me that every girl in their family wore or carried a gold cross on a long gold chain on their wedding day. Also, that her mother wanted me to carry it on our wedding day. Of course, I agreed.

I then got to thinking of all the things that I have to carry down the aisle with me. My bouquet - which is going to be pretty heavy. I'm going to wrap the rosary I carry around in my purse around the stem. I also have to carry a handkerchief that FI's Aunt/Godmother got. She told me a while ago that they purchased a handkerchief in Ireland that they intended Jonathan's bride to carry down the aisle. I later find out that they could not find this supposed handkerchief. But FI's Aunt decided to just order another one. She also ordered one for all the ladies in the Bridal Party. She then had them embroidered. None of this I got to pick out mind you and I'm very picky and have micromanaged pretty much everything in regards to my wedding. And now I also have to carry this necklace.

FI's mom suggested wrapping it around my wrist. Well, I had intended on wearing a pearl bracelet on my right wrist. Now I think I'm goign to have to wear it on my left wrist and wrap the chain around my right wrist.

We were in the car with FI's Aunt when FMIL called me about the chain. I started saying how I had a bunch of things to carry. She goes well you don't have to carry the handkerchief. I said that isn't the point. I'm just worried about dropping something while walking down the aisle. Wish me luck because I'm certainly not the most coordinated person!! hahaha
