It's been a while

So this semester has been crazy so far! I still haven't gotten into a rhythm with everything.

First, the Saints were in the playoffs and won the NFC Championship game then went to the Superbowl for the first time and WON!! My husband is a huge Saints fan so there was a lot of excitement in our house. The day before the NFC Championship game we went to the Aquarium because DH had so much nervous energy. Below is me at the Aquarium, DH with my parents after the NFC Championship game and a picture I took off of my TV after the Superbowl win!

The Monday before the Superbowl, my Gamma was admitted to the hospital. She couldn't even stand up for any period of time without almost passing out. We found out that she has rectal cancer. The good news is that they don't think it has spread and she won't lose her hair. The bad news is that she will probably have to have a bag for the rest of her life. The overall prognosis though is good and even at her age the survival rate is high.

Then it was my birthday and Mardi Gras. My birthday this year was on Lundi Gras (the day before Mardi Gras). I had never been to the Orpheus parade, so we got a group together and went. MIL works on the parade route so we got to have a little party with cake in her office and park in her garage. We had a lot of fun. I made a sign and got a lot of beads. Below me cutting my cake and me with my SIL and law school BFF.

We live on the Metairie parade route, so we had people over for Mardi Gras day. My Granny made most of the food so we didn't have to do too much. I think we all had a good time and it was nice having my family and DH's family together in one place.

It is now lent and I'm hoping we can get back to cooking at home again. All the craziness this semester has not been conducive to crock potting! For MLK day, I discovered that the portobello mushrooms had already gone bad, so I couldn't make that. I think I made something else that day, but don't remember what lol.
