Corks and Canvas

Since I hadn't been able to spend much time with anyone during my BAR studying, I decided to plan different activities to spend time with the people I love.

My sister called me this past week and told me that her husband would be at football camp this weekend so she wanted to come in and see me. I hadn't seen her since Father's Day, so I thought this was a great idea. While I was on the phone with her my husband Jonathan suggested that we do the painting thing. Well the painting thing is called corks and canvas. Its a really nifty idea where you go to a place and they instruct you how to paint a picture and you drink. At the end of the night you have painted a canvas and hopefully you are a little tipsy.

So we planned to go with our Mom. We picked a painting that we liked and had my Mom book it.

The first time I went on Easter Saturday, I couldn't relax and hated my painting the entire time. It didn't help that our instructor was some b!tchy girl that was an artist and thought we were below her. I had never painted a day in my life, so come on mean girl! Once I got the painting home, everyone else seemed to like it, so I felt better about it.

My sister has since done many paintings with friends closer to where she lives. All the ones she went to after the one we did together, they drew the picture for you! We were hoping the one we planned for this weekend would also be drawn for us.

Well, we get there and guess what - we have a blank canvas. We have to draw! Great.

Actually I got there after them, my sister looked so scared to tell me that the canvas was blank.

After taking the BAR, you realize that you need to have fun and enjoy other things. I think this was like the only reason I decided oh well, I came here to have fun, why should I let this bother me. So, with that attitude, I drank some of my daiquiri they had purchased and set to having fun.

Its an experience to say the least and I think everyone should do it. I can't draw. I have no artistic abilities at all. My stick figures look funny. But, everyone can have fun and have a little hand made art in their home with Corks and Canvas.

Here is a picture of my Mom, my sister and I with our paintings outside of Corks n Canvas.
