Wedding Mill?

I took my Bridal portraits on Tuesday. When I went to my hair appointment, There was another bride getting her hair and make up done. She was obviously not done. I was like five minutes late for my appointment already. She moved the other girl to the next chair and sat me down. She started working on me, then she went back to the other girl to do her hair. This other girl was very picky about everything. Come to find out, she was taking her Bridal portraits at the same place I was with the same photographer, but an hour before me. Her wedding is a week after mine, but with my photographer's wife. The other girl finally left and the lady started working on me again. Then her phone rang and she ran out the back door. The girl who worked there told me that it was her lawyer and she had missed his call a couple of weeks ago and hadn't been able to get in touch with him again. Being a law clerk, I understood, but was still aggravated. After what seemed like forever she came back, I could tell my Granny who had come with me was getting nervous. However, the lady did a great job and I looked wonderful and we were still out of there in a reasonable amount of time. I'm still so shocked how she can make my two strands of hair look like a lot of hair! And my veil wasn't going anywhere!! After the portraits, I literally had to start taking my hair down so I could get my veil out - so you know that thing wasn't going anywhere!

After much rushing and running all over the place with my dress in hand at the portrait location, I was finally getting ready. I saw the other girl finishing with her pictures. I finally got dressed and started taking the pictures. Luckily the day was cool but not cloudy at all. It was however very windy, which did not work well with my long train. By the time we were able to get it positioned properly, the wind would come and move it before the picture could be taken. I was disappointed to learn that I couldn't take any pictures on the staircase there, which really upset me. I really wanted a picture of my dress on a pretty staircase. Hopefully we can find one on the wedding day. By the time my portraits were finished, there was another bride there to take her pictures.

Then I look at the photographer's blog today and it says that he is finishing up his 8th wedding of the weekend. 8!!! What in the world? I didn't realize that I was buying into a wedding mill! They do great work, but still! You don't get the personal attention that I'm sure you would get if you were the only bride a photographer had on that day. I almost wish I would have gotten a photographer that offered unlimited time or just does one wedding a day. I'm not asking to be worshipped and bowed down to, I'm just asking to not have to feel like just another bride, which I really am starting to feel like. Oh well, I guess you have to pay for that kind of service and I just didn't have nor could I justify spending that kind of money.

On the bright side - Less than 2 months and we'll be married and I won't be a bride anymore! hahaha

Small vent: not to be gift grabby, but only a few things have been bought from our registry. My shower is next weekend and they are expecting like 90 people! From the registries, maybe 5 have bought presents - 5! I know that when I go to showers I usually do buy a present at the last minute, but I didn't think everyone did this! FI says no one will go to the shower without a present, but I'm getting concerned. We haven't sent invites yet, they are finally ready to go out this week. So, I'm hoping my registries will stop having so many purchased zeroes soon!
