Finally!! and Vent

Finally the invites are out! FI's sister messaged FI and she got her invitation in the mail today!! That is beyond exciting. I thought they would never go out! I hope people RSVP and we can get to the magic number of 300 people!

Hopefully our registries will be a little lighter now too! My shower is Saturday and there doesn't seem to be a lot of gifts purchased. They are expecting about 90 people, so I'm a little concerned! I'm hoping its just that people aren't telling the person at the register that its from a registry. But, if that is going on, its not good either because then we might have the duplicate issue! Oh well, we'll just have to see how everything turns out.

My Mom calls me today and starts talking about the shower. Now I know the date of the shower, but nothing else. I didn't even know the time. She goes on to tell me that they are able to get there an hour before to decorate, but they don't have much decorating to do. Now, I'm pretty sure that its at the same place we had my sister's shower (grrr - its not that its not a great place but I don't like the idea of having it at the same place - its just wrong, oh well! and it shows that they did like no leg work to try to find a place and I spent a long time trying to find a place). And I made sure we personalized the place because its an all inclusive place. I bought flower petals for the tables to add to the centerpiece that was included. I added tulle and strings of pearls to the favor tables and to the seats of honor. Well then my Mom tells me that she assumed I would go with them to the shower an hour ahead of time - WTF!! Why would I go ahead to set up?!?! This tells me that they are not trying to personalize it at all. It will probably look just like my sister's shower except have none of the personalization and have different favors. Then my Mom tells me not to be late, umm this shower is a semi-surprise or at least it is supposed to be and I'm pretty sure the bride is supposed to arrive last. My sister got upset when she arrived as one of the first people to the shower and there were very little people there (most people arrived after she did). I don't want the same to happen to me. My Mom, however, thought my sister had come with us (ahh I at least knew better than that) and thought it was nice that she was able to greet her guests. Umm, I'm not the host, why should I be greeting the guests, ahh what? My cousin's shower was actually a surprise and she arrived after everyone else and once she arrived she was then able to walk around and talk to people. Then she ate then opened the presents. I really don't want this extra lag time that would come with me being there before everyone else and having to greet them, then having to talk to them later as we wait for everyone to arrive so we can eat. My Mom told me what time it is at so I can be ready and I gave her the idea of FI bringing me. This way, I can be an appropriate amount of time late (I'm thinking 15 minutes) and people can adore FI for a few minutes. I say adore because that is the way his family acts towards him.
