Reception Venue??

so we are starting to plan and i'm seriously considering this one place, but i'd like some suggestions! so let me know if you have any suggestions for a reception site. anywhere in the new orleans area that you have been to that you liked or disliked i'd like to know!

First Bride Moment

so this weekend i had my first almost crying bc of something wedding related moment! i sure hope i make it through my wedding without tears!!

so the story:

this saturday i went dress shopping with my mom and granny (granny came along bc mom was sick). i had reluctantly tried on dresses during the mardi gras holidays (long story) and actually found one i really liked. i went to another bridal store on saturday and found yet another favorite. they are both by the same designer but one is from the couture collection and one is from the normal collection.

so while i was in the couture gown, the lady asked if i wanted a veil. i put on the veil and she gave me a mirror so i could see the back of me. i could see the lovely back of the dress through the long, simple, sheer veil and almost cried. it was just what i was looking for when i looked in the mirror and was surprised it was me as the bride!! so for a few seconds this saturday i was a bride! and the bride i've always dreamed of and for me that is really something!

i'm not convinced on a dress though, they both have different qualities i'd really like to have. but i have lots of time, so hopefully i'll figure out which dress is the right dress for me! but for now i'm really thrilled to have had my first bride moment!!!

oh yeah and jonathan and i met with the photographers i love - they were even better in person and had awesome albums! i cant wait to start taking pictures!! i sure hope we get to book them! studiotran.com if you are interested!

finally confirm everything with the church and the reception hall is booked. attempting to find out if i can switch the date at the church! if not i’m going to have to start looking for another affordable yet nice reception hall.

it is 15 months before! who is this person, i want a piece of them!!!

so the church had the other date so we are switched with the church - the church lady is really sweet! and we have a hold on the reception hall. someone booked it yesterday (!!!) for the june date. and i called the photographer and we are on hold with him too. so date now back to July 11, 2009.

First Wedding Purchase

so my first wedding purchase was....my DRESS!

i actually put a deposit down for it on saturday. they are waiting to order it until i decide whether i want to order it to my height or not. the only reason i got it this early was that there just happened to be a trunk show (yeah crazy) on the day i made an appointment at Bridal Boutique in baton rouge. if you dont know, trunk show = 10% off = dress at great price. and you dont get a floor model or a defective dress or anything. i never thought i would be able to get a dress at the price i got it!

so it is really poofy and has an incredibly long and elaborate train. the lady from the designer called it the train of the century lol. and i mean really poofy - i decided to try sitting in it on a chair and on the floor, needless to say we were laughing a lot. it has a lot of beading and embroidery, but not too much. it is what i’ve always wanted - simple and elegant yet extravagant. (sounds like a contradiction but if you see the dress you’ll understand [i’m not going to post pics bc apparently that is inappropriate]) it is the collection one i mentioned in my "first bride moment" blog. its not the one i almost cried in. but its the one. when i was putting the payment down i had a deer in the headlights kind of look, but now i’m excited! (i think i had that look bc i didnt have a church or reception hall and i havent asked bridesmaids to be bridesmaids and have this paper looming over my head.) it was certainly not an impulse buy (i’ve tried it on at almost every bridal store i’ve gone to) and it will certainly make the little girl in me wishing for her wedding very happy!!! if nothing else turns out right, i have a dress that certainly could have been in my little girl dreams!
